USP stands for Unique Selling Proposition

In the context of your business it is a particular benefit that adds real value to your product or service and helps to differentiate it from your competitors and other brands providing a similar product/service.  

The reason it is so important because it is the true essence of what your business is, it is the key message conveyed that entices customers to choose your company over the alternative.
