This strategy continues on from Market Segmentation. 

Once you have divided your customers into different market segments you can target these segments (or groups as they are called) by: 
 
•     Marketing
•    Creating individual products/services
 
for each individual groups needs and wants.
 
 
The difference between Market Segmentation and Target Marketing is segmentation divides your potential list of customers into different groups based on factors such as their location, age, social status and buying behaviour  and you then target the groups that would be most interested in your product/service.
