Measurable Objectives Add to toolbox

Back

It is important to have an overall goal and measurable objectives when putting together your marketing plan, as it will enable you to evaluate how successful your marketing efforts are.

If you have researched your market and are still unsure which marketing efforts to spend the most time and money on setting objectives will help you to use a method of trial and error in order to find out. More importantly it will help you to stay focused on right activities to bring customers in.

Your Objectives should be S.M.A.R.T:

  • Specific: detailed, say exactly what you want to achieve
  • Measurable: have a system for evaluating the success/failure of the particular activity you want to carry out
  • Achievable: they shouldn’t be too ambitious or too easy, you should ensure you have the required resources at hand in order to accomplish what you have set yourself
  • Relevant: are these goals relevant to where you want the business to be going, the overall strategy and business model of the business
  • Time bound: ensure that they have a deadline, otherwise you will be tempted to push back the completion of the activities further and further.
