Sales Channels Add to toolbox

Back

These are the methods through which your customers end up finding out about your business and making a purchase.

As a starting up business you want to set strong sales channels that are effective in terms of bringing in lots of sales and therefore revenue.

There are 3 parts to sales channels:

  • Sales channel
  • Delivery channel
  • Distribution channel

For all 3 you need to decide whether you have the sufficient skills and resources to in order to them all yourself (in house) or find a supplier to do it for you (outsource).

Here are a few sales channels:

  • Online – through sellers like Amazon and by creating an online brand through social media platoforms such as Youtube, Facebook and Twitter
  • Telemarketing – making calls yourself
  • Retail – over the counter at a store
  • Distributor – someone takes care of marketing and selling your product, you just need to deliver and make it
  • VAR – value added resellers, who add value to your product and add it into the market
  • Systems integrator – take your product/service and make them part of a package that becomes a solution/programme sold to larger businesses
  • Sales people – direct selling to customers, you train them and control how they sell

There is no one channel better than another.

You need to ensure you find one that is most suitable to your business.
